We spoke to CARIMI's 1st...the original guitarist for the group STEVE DESROSIERS...who was EXTREMELY POPULAR when the group came out...until he had to quit. Here are his thoughts on CARIMI's breakup. (Read below the picture)

1) Thoughts on the breakup of CARIMI?
STEVE: "Totally heartbroken man. I was with the guys during the wake for Fito's dad and it was wonderful to see them all and after the First break (Mickael's break) I really thought it was all good."

2) Are you SURPRISED that the group lasted that long; or that the breakup came so early?
STEVE: "I am actually. The band had been having the kind of success that indicated smoother relations and calmer heads. You never heard about them missing gigs or anything, so I was anticipating their new work. As a matter of fact Carlo and I snuck off while he was in Boston recently so we could listen to his latest creations...it was good stuff. Totally caught me off guard."

3) Do you see the whole crew getting back together; or is that wishful thinking?
STEVE: "I do see them and actually all of us getting back together. Maybe not as a full time working band but reuniting to periodically share moments with the fans who made our best moments happen! We all have strong personalities but deep down we really all totally loved each other bro! Carimi's is a very unique story...in Haitian music, and I did not think this would happen soon by the way! The reunion. Whatever the wounds or demons are; they will need to be healed first."

4) Are you FOR or AGAINST the remaining members of the group continuing as CARIMI "without" MICKAEL GUIRAND?
STEVE: "It can't be CARIMI without Mike. It's not about for or against. It's still CARIMI without Steve; but the unique thing about this band is the balance that those three achieve on stage together. Like it's not The Police without Sting. Lol."

5) Final words to the CARIMI crew, or the band formerly known as Carimi?
STEVE: "Well that no matter what happens next in their lives; their success was hard won and should be celebrated. They really achieved something special for our tradition in music. CARIMI's story will rank among our generation's great music successes. Love to them, the fans, and let's not forget the family members who helped make it all happen."
