BAND/ARTIST INSTAGRAM popularity put under microscope by a promoter!

In this world of social media many are quick to label a GROUP or ARTIST with a lot of followers as being very popular. There is no doubt that a band or artist with lots of followers have caught the attention of many fans; who absolutely do NOT want to miss any posts or updates by their musical idols. Having said that, a promoter was asking me the other day...and I did not have the answer; is WHY MOST BANDS/ARTISTS WITH LOTS OF FOLLOWERS ARE NOT ABLE TO BRING MANY FANS TO THEIR PARTIES/SHOWS. He was SPECIFIC in saying that he was talking about bands ALL OVER THE DIFFERENT MARKETS IN THE HMI (U.S, HAITI, CANADA, FRANCE)
The promoter was quick to point out to me by saying "SI OU POPULE VRE KONSA SOU SOCIAL MEDIA....POUKISA OU PAKA MET KOB NAN DEYE POCH MWEN LE MWEN AFFICHE W NAN YON SHOW? KOTE MOUN SA YO LE WAP JWE?"
I am not sure what the answer is to his question; but he certainly brought up a point that deserves answers
