FABRICE ROUZIER has played with CHOUPITTE for many years with the group MIZIK MIZIK. We asked him his thoughts on the famous gong player passing away. READ BELOW.
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Morning Fabrice. Not sure if it's too emotional for you right now, but I was wondering if you wanted to say anything about CHOUPITTE?
FABRICE ROUZIER: "Mizik-Mizik lost the heart of its rhythm section and nobody on earth can do what he did. Haiti lost for sure one of its best percussion player and one hell of a creator / composer. We lost a brother."
*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Your FAVORITE or BEST memory or story about CHOUPIT?
FABRICE ROUZIER: "During Erick's first trip to the US. After one of the shows, we go shopping... Choupitte takes Erick to a sporting goods store. Erick takes a combination sports suit to the cashier. It turns out that what he picked was BOGOF ( Buy One Get One Free ). Choupitte picks the exact same item and stands behind him at the cashier's line and makes sure to show the extra item to the cashier while Erick is paying....When Erick enquires about him not paying for the item, he tells him that he had already paid."
