We spoke to former KONPA KREYOL and KREZI maestro DAVID DUPOUX and asked him if CARIMI breaking up was about the same experience as when KONPA KREYOL/KREZI broke up. Read what he told us below (Under the Picture)




*KOMPA MAGAZINE: It happened with you when KONPA KREYOL broke up at the height of your popularity…Can you explain to us how MICKAEL GUIRAND, CARLO VIEUX, and RICHARD CAVE must feel about the CARIMI experience coming to an end….and HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THAT?
DAVID DUPOUX: "Pat Konpa Kreyol's breakup was hard. That band represented all the sacrifices we've made and all the joy that came after as a reward. It was our whole life at the time. Konpa Kreyol's breakup was after 5 years. For Carimi it's after 15 years. Only the Carimi guys know how it feels. It's a completely different situation. I can not imagine. I hope the fans aren't too hard on them because a band that represented 15 years of their lives just ended abruptly. All they need know is everyone's support."

*KOMPA MAGAZINE: Can a BREAKUP like that leave a SOUR TASTE in your mouth, which can lead a guy like Richard Cave and Carlo Vieux to say F*C* IT…I don’t want to deal with this nonsense anymore? In other words QUIT THE HMI like DAVIDOFF did?
DAVID DUPOUX: "Well I didn't have the sour taste after Konpa Kreyol., but after Krezy I was done. It's possible that after 15 years they do have that sour taste... but I don't wish it."
