FORMER ZENGLEN guitarist wants the HMI to answer "THIS"!
_____________
Former ZENGLEN guitarist TI SIWO dropped us a note today. He wanted to make an observation on....(Read Below)
TI SIWO: "Yo! I love the soundbite series Kompamagazine has going on man. It's really intriguing. There is one soundbite in particular that caught my attention that sparked a question that I would like for ANYONE to answer.
Ti Joe, Roberto, and Richie all said basically that after 6 months ou nan cho avec yon album si li pa mache. If this is globally understood in the Haitian market, why do ALL artists hesitate to go back into the studio and work? In a sense, why are Haitian artists so hesitant to make music when that is their job!?
For example; Djakout had a great album with Steeve Khe. How long ago did he leave the band again? Doesnt T-Pouch AND T-Regi have studios? Even Didi Santana is a writer and composer, so how is it so hard for us to hear something new from these guys? Why is there no desire from these musicians to make music?
Another example; a few months ago Mac D tells KM, "We still have songs like "ILLEGAL", "MESI" and others that are still working for us, so there's really no urgency to drop any new songs out there." Those songs have been out for three years! And HMK has two top industry producers as the faces of their business. It just doesnt add up to me why there would be no urgency to make music when your purpose is to give people music.
Even a guy like Jean dISIP just said they have 3 years before they will need another album... why? Im pretty sure whether the album was a hit or not, their next album would have come out in 3 years anyways because Mission came out in 2010, Viktwa came out in 2013, and Klere Yo just came out. Granted, this is their first critically acclaimed album, but would it have made a difference as for as timing of the next album?
Haitians want to be like americans when it comes to music, but one thing American musicians dont do is ever stop making music. Drake, Future, Chris Brown and other active artists probably have about 10+ songs come out per year, what is our excuse as artists? This is where 5Lan has everyone in the industry beat and they cant figure why!
I guess what I am trying to implore is that the main thing that I personally see crippling the HMI is the lack of music and the abundance of other unnecessary issues. Don't take this personally, take this as advice. Music should be the priority. Not bals. Not tours. Not press conferences. Not photoshoots. Not anything. Just music."
